La Arcada Fountain
The famous La Arcada Fountain, as well as the plaza it is in, was designed and constructed under the supervision famous architect Myron Hunt in 1926.
The fountain itself has been a home to a number of different species, however for the last 20 years it has been a sanctuary for turtles that have been donated by locals. The fountain is cared for by the plaza’s owners and remains a popular historic destination for locals and visitors alike.
VIVA | Modern Mexican Cuisine
We are pleased to announce the opening of Viva Modern Mexican cuisine at 1114 State Street, in beautiful La Arcada Plaza, overlooking the turtle pond. This iconic location has been a well-known restaurant spot in downtown Santa Barbara for over 70 years. It has been home to such well-known eateries as Acapulco, State Side, and most recently, Cielito.
With Viva Modern Mexican we are striving to bring a vibrant Mexico City-inspired menu coupled with fun, friendly service to one of the most beautiful locations in downtown Santa Barbara.
Our location is fondly remembered by many Santa Barbarians as being a local’s favorite during its’ Acapulco days. We are hoping to re-establish Viva as one of Santa Barbara’s premier watering holes, and as such have partnered with local companies such as Pure Order Brewing Co.
